Adding automation to a poor process, just increases how fast you can make the same mistakes.

Having a great process requires taking advantage of world class automation already out there.

You can not control what you do not understand.

Most businesses have many measurements to control their business from the PLCs to control a production process to the IT department .

How you get the data and analyze those measurements, is where automation integrates with the business.

Typically, when you deal with data: you fetch it, you clean and manipulate it, and then you inspect it, and present results as values, spreadsheets, graphs, and so on.

Six Sigma seeks to improve the quality of process outputs by identifying and removing the causes of defects (errors) and minimizing variability in manufacturing and business processes. It uses a set of quality management methods, including statistical methods, and creates a special infrastructure of people within the organization ("Black Belts", "Green Belts", etc.) who are experts in these methods.  Each Six Sigma project carried out within an organization follows a defined sequence of steps and has quantified financial targets (cost reduction or profit increase).

The application of multivariate statistics is multivariate analysis. Methods of bivariate statistics, for example ANOVA and correlation, are special cases of multivariate statistics in which two variables are involved.
